Thousands mourn two Palestinian men killed by the Israeli forces in Nablus

TWO Palestinian men were mourned by thousands today after dying from gunshot wounds inflicted by Israeli forces in separate incidents in the northern occupied West Bank city of Nablus.

Mohammad Abu Kishek died less than 24 hours after he was shot by Israeli forces during a raid on Tuesday night.

Another man, Mohammad Hirzallah, died after being shot in the head during an armed clash in Nablus in July.

Mr Hirzallah, a fighter with the Lions’ Den armed resistance group, spent four months in hospital but passed away at the Istishari Hospital in Ramallah.

Dozens of armed men were present among the thousands of mourners in the funeral procession.

They shot live ammunition into the air to show their anger against the killings.

Local journalist Mohammad Muna said: “There is rage and sadness. There was an evident presence of armed men, from the Lions’ Den and other armed groups.”

He added: “It appears there was a demand or security order to the armed men to not come out publicly with their weapons, and to not shoot live ammunition into the air.

“The presence of the security services on the roundabout, with their armoured vehicles, seems to have annoyed the men.”

A Palestinian teenager, Ahmad Amjad Shehadeh, also died during the same Nablus raid that killed Mr Kishek.

The Palestine Health Ministry said the 16-year-old was “killed after a bullet penetrated his heart fired by Israeli forces.”

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society told reporters that Israeli soldiers opened fire on health workers who were trying to care for the wounded.

The killings came after two explosions rocked Jerusalem on Wednesday morning in what Israeli authorities claimed to be a co-ordinated attack by Palestinians that left one person dead and at least 12 injured.
