In Problem-Based Learning, giving kids a problem that they don’t know the answer to and they’re not entirely sure what the approach to solving the problem is, it allows them to engage in a process that as humans, we need all our lives. That process is just problem solving.

In this special episode of the PBL Blitz series, Andrea interviews a familiar voice: Josh (@askgiebs) is the special guest on this Blitz episode to discuss PBL vs. PrBL (Problem-Based Learning) and the authentic application of learning on a smaller scale. Especially in the math classroom, PrBL gives teachers and students an opportunity to engage with standards in an authentic application that is not quite the extent of a full PBL. The need for this could be because of the way standards flow or fit together, or maybe it is a first step for a newer facilitator of classroom PBL to start to integrate the strategies of PBL into the classroom. No matter the purpose, PrBL is a great way to incorporate the “Spirit of PBL” into the classroom on a small scale for engaging and authentic learning opportunities. Enjoy this special PBL Blitz episode!
