It's junk. I purchased 2 of these drives. Now, about 1 year later, the firmware / excessive head parking issue did wear one of these drives out completely, despite both of the drives being used only for daily backups. In this scenario, the number of head parks is now around 100,000 I believe. I'm not going to actually check because just checking the SMART data will cause my only currently working drive to spin up, and I'm afraid it's going to quit on me any second.
What's more is that I contacted Amazon to do something about this item listing because I believe it is extremely deceiving by not stating that the drives were not designed to be used out of external enclosures and that the manufacturer's warranty has been voided. They would not do anything about it!!!!! In fact, it took an hour of haggling with them to do anything about just my 2 defective drives!! Seagate will not honor warranty because the seller took these drives out of their original external enclosure. The seller I originally bought from would not pick up the phone either. Amazon finally told me they would take them back under warranty and give me a refund because of the situation. Nobody will stand by these drives. Nobody wants to touch them.

Original Review
Pros:
* They were cheap (when I bought them). They seemed like a good deal.
Cons:
* This drive has compatibility problems on certain SATA controllers. Transfers will be fast at first (100MB/s+), but then in a few minutes, slow to a crawl (<20MB/s). The review here on amazon by Sin Jeong-hun gives more details.
* The head parks practically instantly, in < 60 sec. after unparking, which is going to wear it out for sure. I would only recommend these drives for very occasional use (such as performing a single backup per day to this drive).
* As a few other reviewers say, these drives were taken out of Seagate external enclosures and therefore the Seagate warranty has been voided, something not stated anywhere on the product page of course! If you can, I would recommend you purchase an additional Squaretrade 2 or 3 year warranty with this drive. I haven't had to actually use a Squaretrade warranty before, but assuming they live up to repairing or replacing your item, it could be worth it with these drives.
UPDATE 1/5/15:
I've been using these drives for over a month and I can say that outside of the initial transfer things are looking OK. Under normal use I haven't noticed the stuttering so these are working great as long term storage drives. Constant high speed transfers seem to be the Achilles heel of this model but if that doesn't matter to you then they should work fine.
The problem with this drive is that it seems to have some firmware problem that is making it perform really poorly when reading.
I still have some tests to do (check for firmware updates and try using it on other motherboards with different controllers.
I don't recommend anyone this disk, since there is the possibility that you end up with this problem, and not everyone will be able to sort it out in case is due to some incopatibility.
I've included a CrystalDiskMark Benchmark screenshot so you can see how poorly this drive is performing when reading (while the test passed the write test successfully, in my experience there are writing problems too).
I'll be updating this review if I find a way to make it work properly.
